resin works

An intricate process is used to create the  mounted resin artworks. A card base is cut to the required mould size, and then decorated with pictures, fabric, sequins, beads etc. These components are individually glued down and once dry, are set in place with several layers of varnish. These are then fixed to the base of a PVC mould and a clear embedding resin is poured over them. The resin is prepared beforehand by mixing it in exact proportions with a catalyst, which makes it set, eventually becoming totally solid in a few hours. Once completely set hard, the piece is simply popped out of the mould, sanded and polished. The resin piece can then be presented as desired, as jewellery or a wall-mounted piece, or part of a 3D collage work. Just about any non-porous object can be embedded with a bit of skill.
